[TheForge] wire brush

Porter Cable made a paint remover/sander I bought long ago. It used 7"
aluminum disks with carbide grit on the face. It runs about 3600 rpm. I am
using it with a wire wheel. It works well, if a bit heavy. Perhaps you
could find one on ebay.

The best alternative is to use a sander/polisher vs. an angle grinder. A
sander/polisher turns at about 3450 rpm, vs. an angle grinder at over 7500
rpm. According to noted smith Bill Epps, the wire wheel was originally
intended for the slower tool and is not truly safe at angle grinder speeds.
I'm still looking for a sander polisher configured like an angle grinder.

Wire wheels terrify me so although I like the silvered effect a wheel gives,
I
don't do it. This discussion seems to offer the following safer options:
1. a flap wheel
2. some kind of speed control to plug a wire wheel into
3. a Harbor Freight tool, which I have not been able to find in the local
store
Are there any others?
