[TheForge] Testing forge welds

Anybody have experience using dye penetrants to evaluate the quality of forge welds? I have a couple of weld samples I've cut in half and polished.  I've been reading about Magnaflux's "Spotcheck" dye penetrant and I'm thinking about getting some to see how complete the weld is.  I attended David Tucciarone's forge welding class at John C. Campbell a while back and have to do a guild demo and think this would make for interesting demo props.
