For one, it is less likely to throw tiny wires at you at 100 mph.  I 
have become pretty insensitive to the little wires after thirty years 
and wear saftey glasses shield to protect my eyes, but after a day at 
the wheel I often wince when I take off my shirt at the end of the day 
and have four or five wires pulled loose from my flesh at once. I can't 
remember them sticking in me, but I notice them coming out at once.   
That wheel would also be less prone to grabbing the workpiece as well.
