Subject: Re: [TheForge] NJ Fairgrounds - Attn: Phlip
Actually, think I have dining tables scoped, if people can deal with
picnic tables. Maybe build a couple set up for wheelchair access.
Brother in a wheel chair. Just put the table up on concrete blocks.
By the way, since his becoming chair bound I have found out just what a 1/2"
bump in the road means. Uneven ground, even for a powered chair is a
disaster. Wet ground even worse. Though I am not one to limit access to
anyone, IMHO, if someone wishes to attend an event (particularly an outdoor
one) with special needs, they need to say so up front in a letter or email.
Then, if possible, the things that would be interesting to them could
possibly (possibly) be placed either together or maybe in an area with
better access. With a timely heads up, changes may be made with little cost
for the change, because plans are not yet etched in stone. If a contingent
of 20 arrive unexpectedly at the door on a wet morning, all hell breaks
loose (just speaking metaphorically folks<G>).
Also, wherever he goes, usually either his wife or I am there to help.
Still, I can only dig him out of so big a hole all by myself<G>.
All the best
