I agree, It was actually someone else who mentioned fairgrounds first,
and they're an excellent option. But, lets not limit ourselves to
State fairgrounds- we need to look at County fairgrounds, too. I know
the fairgrounds in my little county in Ohio would have been adequate
to support something like this.

What I'm looking for, as I'm coming up with my ideas is a site which
has the following, in no particular order-

An area which can be isolated from other, non-ABANA activities
Reasonable cost
Adequate personal facilities, such as showers and bathrooms
Reasonable access to a major airport
Reasonable availability of motels in the area
Management that will give us what WE want, for a reasonable price
Camping areas
Sufficient roofed space (anybody know how much we'd really NEED?)
Reasonable fire safety requirements
Permission to cook out, at least in our own private camps
Preferably, an area where we could have our own cook out
Reasonable alcohol policies (I dunno about you guys, but my idea of
Heaven is a
satisfying day's work, followed by a hot shower, a cold beer,
and a warm man.
Granted most of you wouldn't want the last, but I'm sure you
have an equivalent in
mind ;-) No reason we can't spend the day smithing together, and
the evening
talking about the day and sharing stuff we learned over a cold beer.)
Reasonable access to food services
Reasonable merchant facilities and policies, both for the pros and our
tailgaters.

Anything else you guys can think of?

It's the smith who makes the tools, not the tools which make the smith.
