Unfortunately, in the NY metro area which New Paltz is close to, it costs a
lot of money for anything. For those of us who live here it is a way of
life and the salaries are larger also. I went to the conference in Kentucky
and it wasn't exactly cheap or the stores and restaurants in the area also.
There is a lot to see ironwork wise in the NYC area. It had to potential
for being a great conference with the ability to draw a lot of people in
the metalworking fields from the New York area that wouldn't ordinarily
come to an ABANA conference.
