I use a 1959 Lincoln, Arc welded, 220 volts, with built in 6 volt battery
charger, works great, but is AC only, and is a couple of years older than
me.

Mine is about that old- still works fine- and they are relatively cheap. If
it breaks I'll buy another. I use it more than any of my other welders.

Ron,  If Hippie is the one who eats at Alice's Restaurant, I probably knew 
him. :)

I have a 30 year-old Sears AC buzz box that causes me to cringe  at the 
thought of stick welding.  Therefore I uusally try every other possibility 
first.  What a revolting development this is.
