[TheForge] TIG Welder

I have rented 110 volt Miller Maxstar machines for site work. They are
really cute, about the size of big dictionary, weigh nothing, and have
a shoulder strap. But there is only so much power you can push thru a
15 amp, or even 20 amp, breaker at 110. They will do thin stuff. Under
1/8", should be no problem. But they wont get much penetration on big
iron. For the right job, they are great- I used em to tig weld
stainless steel nuts to anchor bolts a couple of times, so no one could
steal sculptures, and for something like that, they are perfect.
But I think you would be frustrated all the time trying to use one as a
shop welder.
