I do a LOT of tig welding, and I swear by my Miller machines.
I have 2- an AC/DC Syncrowave 250, which is an older transformer
machine, which is heavy and big, but reliable. Noisy, too, as the fan
runs all the time, which I believe they have changed.
And I have a DC only 304 XMT inverter. Small, light, quiet, and will
tig, stick, and mig weld. But it wont tig aluminum, although I can mig
alumninum with it.
I like em both, for different reasons.
Both have been reliable workhorses- the older Syncrowave, which I
bought new in 88 or so, did blow its circuit board after about 10
years- $500 fix. The Inverter has never had a problem.
