	If your fire is hot and clean, you should have no problems getting a 
good weld.  Crown the mating surfaces slightly and bind one end with 
iron wire.  Stick the other end into the fire (assuming a coal fire 
here) with the wrought iron on the bottom.  This is so the wrought will 
absorb most of the head and help prevent burning the steel.  When you're 
up to welding heat, stick the end and work your way to the middle. 
Remove the iron wire and continue welding until you get to the other 
end.  Square things up and you should be good to go.
