[TheForge] My Christmas Present to Me

That's great to hear -- my first g'hog kill was an odd one, the lil
bastard was sunning himself above our hilly fields, and I surprised
him as I walked toward the tree, startled him UP the tree... then
yelled down to my dad to bring a gun. I never shot a ground-dweller
out of a tree before or since that funny day. Yeah, I was a little
worried about the bullet going who knows where... I'm pretty sure I
went around the tree until he was squarely between the tree and me. I
also don't think I've seen a groundhog climb a tree any other time...
they plague our hillside (or, used to!) and can tip a tractor and even
kill a person, thusly, if not paying careful attention, for those
unfamiliar.

I'm surprised no-one brought up those fun break-barrel air guns...
some of those do 1000fps on one pump, at .22cal -- I'd love to have
one but they're certainly not indoor pest guns, and I don't have the
room for it at my own place. The family farm (yeah, I'm visiting now)
is perfect for it though, and is where all my hunting experience is.

cheers,

ben
