At 10 feet or less, Ive been known to hit them over the head.  I plowed a hole shut one day with the hog out of it.  Got off the tractor and threw my motor hand crank at him.  Trouble was I missed but he didn't.  Even though I was off the mark, he had jumped at the crank and that was that!

Andy,

I have been in Hinton, I did the Blue River thing a
few years back, stayed at Pipe Stem.

Your right the fuel cost would make them very
expensive. My dealer is at $13.95 a box at the
monment. I only shoot the 17 HMR every now and then.
This is my long range small bore G Hog gun.

One note, with the ballastic tip ammo, It works very
well, but at 10 feet it passes thru the G'Hog unless
it hits a bone.
