Andy,

Yeah it is the spiral facetted barrel. I already have
a 17 HMR. It's a Savage model 90 bolt action. The 17
maybe really nice, but it's like $13.00 a box and I am
still using up 22LR that I bought a brick for $9.00. I
think I still have 3 bricks left. 

But I must admit that I bought a brick of subsonic
22LR for $30.00 and some Remington/Eley 22 Target
Fifle ammo for $5.00 a box.

The subsonic just keeps the noise down and the Target
is because I want to see if I can hit the hole in the
steel plate I am putting up at 50 yards.
