We have one of those here in Uvalde, Tx. It also doubles as our best "Blue
plate special" at noon every day.

Frosty,

Right you are! I'm a regular at the 70 year old coffee shop here, and
those are the place I look for when I'm driving cross country. The places
with all the pickups and state trooper cars outside.

Aubrey

I agree, home roast is best.

$tarbucks ain't no coffee shop.

I like the local greasy spoon where all the local's
pickups are parked, the kind of place where everyone
has their own coffee mug, seat, etc. Where the waitress
is more likely to tell you to get it yourself if she's
busy and thinks you're odd if you don't give her some
crap so she can dish some back. They're the place in
any small town where you can find out anything about
the place, make friends grab a bite (if you're brave)
and just hang out all day, swapping lies and solving
the world's problems. They're the places where the
waitress'll give you a funny look if you ask for coffee
with something other than cream and sugar, a cute name,
flavor, size, etc. The kind of coffee shops I can walk
into for the first time, spot the local coffee club's
table, introduce yourself and feel right at home.

THAT'S a coffee shop.
