[TheForge] Moloch, pickle problem

Power outages suck, especially if you're not prepared
for them.

No shower? I pity your family and aquaintances.

No coffee? Howzat?! I can't imagine a situation outside
maybe floating in the middle of an ocean where I
couldn't brew up a pot of joe. I mean seriously, you
are a smith aren't you? Is there be a believable reason
you couldn't get out to the
smithy/shop/carport/whatever, light a fire and heat
some water?

Maybe you slipped on the ice and your arms and legs
fell off? No wait, you're typing. Maybe a limb crashed
through the roof and you're pinned at the computer?

Seriously though, power failures are why we have
propane for cooking on and a wood stove in the living
room. The wood stove also helps mitigate the cost of
heating oil but it's the lifeboat in a power failure.
Thankfully we don't have so many anymore and they
seldom last long enough to do more than make us reset
all the timers in the house.

Just rub it in Robert! I used to live in the Lower Rio
Grande Valley, and I miss it on days like these!

My power went off this morning at 4:56, but I was
already awake to the sounds of gunshots all around my
house -- I thought I was in Bagdad. The gunshots
turned out to be hundreds of tree limbs snapping under
the weight of ice. Fortunately, no trees fell on my
house or truck. I can take the cold, but no shower and
no coffee! That brutal!

Aubrey
