I was told that I could melt lead in turkey fryer, has
anyone done
 this?

I need to turn some 10 pound chucks of lead in to more
usable ingots.

Any other suggestions would be appraciated.

Hey Jerry,
when i was in high school i was boiling bottles to
sterilize agar for a science project and forgot it on
the stove the nonpyrex bottles exploded leaving agar
on the ceiling and scraping the paint off the
refrigerator across the room. after i finished paying
for the burn of the linoleum floor and cleaning the
gook off the ceiling the revereware copper bottom
stainless steel pot was mine to keep. I used that with
an electric hot plate to melt lead quite efficiently
for years. I would melt it and drop it from heights
onto a waxed board. the sculptures were embedded in
resin and sold to bloomingdales as paper weights and
paid for medical school. I had no thought at the time
about the breathing in of lead oxides as i heated the
lead but would now be concerned and likely do it
outdoors. Lead is easy to melt but it stores in bones,
marks red cells and waits to be a participant in your
demise when other things begin to fail.
