It's not as fun as melting and recasting, but you can chop up the 10 lb. chunks with a hammer and chisel or similar method.  10 lbs. of molten lead requires some care and planning.

Jerry, use the burner but replace the oil tank a cast iron or steel
container. It wouldn't be any different than the gasoline  fueled lead pots
that plumbers used to use. By the way I think I have one of those. I know I
have a cast lead pot.
