Thanks for the tip, re: oil & air hammers, but this thing was oiled; it just 
died a natural , mysterious HF tool death. No apparent cause, except 
maybe bad feung swey.  Those cheap, and maybe expensive ones also, 
air chisels are incredibly simple devises.  After taking that one apart, I'm 
not really sure how they work, period.  There's nothing in there except a 
"piston" and a plastic disc with a couple of holes in it and a triggering 
mechanism for admitting air. One more mystery in life, kinda like the 
magic smoke in Chinese electrical tools that once it escapes, the tool 
dies. I agree, you could certainly build an EW cheaper and better than 
the Grizzly, which at over a grand is not in the cheap tool category.
