[TheForge] Horizontal Band Saw Blade Guides

Jim, the blade guides are four bearings held in place by 10 mm bolts on each
side of the blade, top & bottom. Look at a one and get the specs, then any
bearing place can match them for you. A fool's advice: Jury rig the
scrounged motor and a home made pulley to make sure the reduction gears are
ok and check the top guide mount to make sure it isn't bent before you spend
much time and $$ on something you can buy new for less than $200.

Subject: [TheForge] Horizontal Band Saw Blade Guides

Howdy,

I stopped by the local scrap yard at lunch and looked at a band saw
that was being sold at scrap prices. It was a cheap Chicago model,
probably from Harbor Freight. It was missing the motor and the guides
for the saw blade. I don't have a band saw yet, and I figured a motor
would be easy enough to scrounge and install. However I wasn't sure
about the blade guides. Does anyone know a place to order
replacements from? I don't think I really have the setup or time to
fabricate them, and the band saw new doesn't cost too much new, maybe
200$ or under..

Anyway, I thought I would see if there was an easy way to get those
guides replaced. If not I probably won't worry about it. I don't
NEED a band saw right now, but I would like to get one eventually.

Thanks for any info,

Jim
