[TheForge] refractory vs. blanket was A challenge to Harry

Marc,
There are ($$$) refractory adhesives for ceramic fiber products, but they are
not used to suspend ceramic blanket material, because the blanket will simply
delaminate, pulling away from the glued layer. There are only two methods worth
using to keep ceramic blanket in place:
(1) Anchors are used to suspend the blankets on vertical and overhead surfaces
in commercial kilns.

(2) In tube and clamshell forges, the blanket can be mechanically trapped by
forming an arch. Coating the hot-face (inner) surface of the arch with rigidizer
further strengthens the arch if desired.

For flat overhead and vertical surfaces within a forge (which heats up too much
for SS anchors to be practical), ceramic fiber board is the most practical
solution.

I think this has been answered before, but is there something to provide
some adhesion to the blanket to stay attached to the pipe or surface of the
forge? That comes in small quantities. I don't want to buy a 50 lb
container.
Thanks
Marc
