Chuck,
It sounds to me like you have a lot more to contribute to this thread. Why not
tell us a little bit about your different forges and why you have a variety of
them?

In other words what us folks down here call a blown burner.
Been using them for 30 years.
Recently built a ribbon - blown burner ala John Emmerling, and like it for 
its lack of hot spots in the forge shell.
I use 2 blowers with my forge . One to supply the burner air and the other 
is connected to an oblong funnel built into the front end of the table 
holding the forge. This acts as  a high pressure air curtain to minimize 
dragon breath.
Having it built into the table allows quick change of  the several forges I 
use.
