I've walked up and down enough hills thank you, usually
pulling a winch cable with a chain and snatch block
over my shoulders but I gave up drilling before the
damage got too severe.
I have a pair of Red Wing slip ons for some things but
they're zip compared to the White's. I used to have a
pair of lineman's boots and they did a good job of
protecting my ankles from the sharp ends of surveyor
brushed lines. They weren't all that comfortable for a
long day's work though and would nearly kill me on the
drill stand.
Diabetes is a serious risk factor too. Are you keeping
it under control? My last A1c was 6. The last time I
let it get away from me (last time I quit smoking) I
started getting more joint pain along. That time my A1c
got to 9.7 before I started testing 4 times a day and
going on a rigid diet.
On the smoking front, my current quit is working pretty
darned well. I'm taking Chantrix and though I don't
know what it does specifically I'm finding I don't miss
the smokes and I haven't replaced them with food, etc.
I haven't had a smoke in a couple months and though I'm
tempted occasionally, I don't crave it.
