[TheForge] home shop roller mill?

Hugh Mc Donald's machine is great. A friend of mine built one and I was
really impressed with what a great job it did welding up Damascus blades. It
would be really good for sword billets.
As to building one myself, I'm not a good enough machinist.
The HF roller mills work way too slowly to forge weld with. Hugh's machine
is very fast and has foot and hand activated adjusting cams to change the
roller clearance.

Subject: [TheForge] home shop roller mill?

An odd thought just crossed my mind w/ Re: reducing large stock to small.

Commercially, this is done using rolling/slitting mills - a pair of driven
rollers that compress and/or shear the hot steel being pulled through.

Now, roller mills for cold-working precious metals are fairly common, and
small enough for use in a small jewelrymaking studio.

What I'm wondering is whether a comparable small roller mill could be
constructed (easily) for use on hot iron.

Any thoughts?
