Mark, surely someone in your group has some smaller pieces of smaller track
or will cut them for you. Every body will want to get in on the act and I'll
bet you can get lots of help once they know what you're doing. If you don't
impose upon your friends, who else is there?

Subject: RE: [TheForge] Dies
The only way that I MIGHT be able to do it at home would be the chop
saw way...But setting the rail up for the job/postioning it etc...BIG
HEAVY RAIL!!! Ha....I do think that I have a smaller section omewhere
that I can use for a trial die though...will have to look...
Mark
Will it fit through a 14" chop saw?
(might be hard on the wheel but should work)
Can you prop it up and heat one end in your forge (easier if you have a
pass-through gas, or side-blast traditional)? I'm not very experienced
but I think you can get a good anneal without bringing it up to forging
temp. You could also throw it in a backyard fire, campfire, or small
bonfire, once the coals are built up :) Are you wanting to anneal
because you have a band saw available, or does it just need to be
annealed before anything can be done with it at all?
I have a couple 2-to-3-foot segments of some type of joiner rail, I'll
try to get some pix posted, but am also curious on this subject --
thanks again & as always to the many contributors here, just know that
you're quite a help to a lot of people!
