If your doing hot work mild steel will do for drawing and many other dies.
If your working some of the alloy steels or doing rain drop or ladder
damascus you need to go to a heat and impact resistant steel and have it
heat treated. All i have now are 3"X5"X2" mild steel dies and they work
fine on 1095 and 15n20 bilets.
