[TheForge] help on hydraulics needed

Steve,

Cat man is right. Go to ur local hydraulics dealer such as Fleet Supply and
they can match up whatever fittings u need. They can also make the lines for
you- and use the line protectors anywhere you may be working close to the
line. They fail with out warning.

The cost is minimal compared to a trip to the emergency room, not to mention
the years of convalescence from an introvasion injury, ie, when high
pressure hydraulic fluid enters your body or squirts you in the eye. Compare
that to firing a modern 3"magnum shotgun shell in a water pipe- you *might*
get away with it once. Also, make sure *all* fittings are tightly sealed. If
you cross-thread a fitting, smash the threads with a hammer so no one will
ever be tempted to use it.

I know what happens from such a needless exposure, but will forego the
horror stories for now.

You can't make Damascus in a hospital bed- if that scares you; good.

NO. Not meaning to yell, just excited<G>. Plumbing is only good for about
150 psi or so. Hydraulics are good for 2,000 psi or more. Just a rough
statement.

Greetings all --

Hopefully a quick question -- are standard steel plumbing fixtures (nipples,

'T's, elbows) appropriate for us in a hydraulic press. Seems like the
equipment I have does have typical tapered threads but I just wanted to
confirm the useage. See "http://ironflower.com/plans/press.htm" for what I'm

actually trying to do.
