Is this diesel or gas, you don't say? Both will have some problem with
going bad.

You should plan on exercising your equipment at least once a month. When
you do, you want to bring the engine up to full working tremperature.
Otherwise, diesels will develop wet stacking. It's also good to exercise
the generator under full load at least once per year. You may get that
anyway depending on your area.

250 gal seems really large for a small unit. Why don't you consider an
auxillary, above ground tank initially that is removed when your on the
grid.

I'm in the process of moving and rebuilding the horse ranch. The new
property has no power. In 4 month the seller is bringing in then power. So
until then we are on a generator. . After power is brought in we are going
to keep the generator as a back. Up. Here's the rub the tank for it is 250
Gal. my worry is water or it going fowl over months of sitting. I was
thinking of getting a sealed cap on the tank to keep the water out. But does
Diesel go off like Gas? Ideas?
