Didymium filters out the sodium flare which is really
valuable to glass blowers.
There is very little sodium (none, unless maybe you
collect ocean beach coal) involved in the forge fire so
didymium is pretty darned expensive useless. I have a
pair I've had since '94', saw a glass blower who just
happened to be selling the things. From my experience
there is a slight reduction in glare when fluxing with
borax but certainly not enough to justify the money.
