There is a bucket mfg (Behrens) in Winona, MN that still hot dips 
buckets and related items, funnels etc. At least they still did the 
last time I was there maybe five years ago. It's about a block away 
from Hossfeld Mfg. If I see they guy in the near future (and still 
remember) I'll ask him what the "shiny stuff" might have been. I wonder 
if it could have been some kind of flux?
