Darrell> Any idea why your post wanted me to install Japanese language?
If you look at the headers in Bill's message, among those that your mail
reader probaly hides from you under normal circumstances, you will see:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-2022-jp"
Cool. And it was so easy to read, too. :-)
Maybe his mailer (Microsoft Office Outhouse 11) did that because he
included one weird character in his chemical formula?
There are three bytes here........vvv
Bill> FeCl2(aq) + Cl2(g) $(B"* (BFeCl3(aq)
that some software will render as a right-pointing-arrow glyph. Maybe
he got that out of a Japanese font and M$-OO-11 silently added the
header? In any case, the presence of the header is why your system
wanted to load Japanese fonts.
PS: When I tried to send this, *my* system offered to send it with a
charset=iso-2022-jp header. I'll see if I can defest that.
