[TheForge] Junkyards/scrap yards in New Hampshire?

Harding Metals in Northwood, NH lets you walk the yard and grab whatever
you want. They charge you for it of course. The one time I was there
they didn't have any ferrous scrap to speak of. They did have lots of
stainless and a pile of brass rod stock (I bet they want plenty for
that). Worth a visit, if you like scrapyards.

Ralph Sproul took me to a place last week that I really don't know where
it was, except it was in NH, maybe half an hour from Webster. It was a
really *fine* scrapyard. They have all shapes of metal, mostly ferrous,
some stainless. Ralph brought his log truck to see if the repairs were
going to work and figuring the owner would have something he wanted
moved (they know each other pretty well). He ended up moving probably
four tons of 4x8, maybe bigger pieces of plate from storage across the
street to a rack in the main yard. Stuff all riveted together from a
water tank or something. The last load, his crane blew a hydraulic line.
It was the line that picks up the outriggers, so the truck was
immobilized (having the outriggers down at the time). The yard had a
trailer full of hydraulic hoses and adapters, so several hours later it
was all back to working. You can find Ralph at Bear Hill Blacksmith:

His web site has a huge number of great ideas.

Other places I've heard of but don't know much about:
Mass
Haverhill Steel
Riesner's in Clinton
NH
S&S Metals in Londonderry

Let me know if you find others. I'm always interested in scrapyards.
I'm in Brownfield, Maine. You're welcome to stop by sometime, but I just
looked at the map--a long trip.
