[TheForge] Power hammer Vs air hammer

Martin,
The question seems to be between mechanical hammer and air hammer ( there
are two types of air hammers........ ones run by compressor and self
contained which supply their own air).......... At any rate - I'd say the
greatest difference is "Open Die Space". If you have more room between
the dies - you can use taller tooling, add more jigs and fixtures, or work
on taller stock. This has it's advantages if you need those abilities for
your work.
The mechanicals were mostly designed for smaller work and agricultural
impliments or chisel sharpening.......so they have a low open die space
(about 4-5 inches) if you crowd them with tools or tall stock - they have
no power.

Is there an advantage one has over the other on the
work they do?
 Thanks
