What none of the comments have addressed is coal.  More people are killed yearly mining coal than have died ever related to nuclear energy - including Chernobal.  Then, consider the environmental damage from the acid rain and mercury, cadmium, CO2 and God knows what else that each of us (albeit on a small scale) spews into the air every time we fire up the old forge.

Don't badmouth nuclear energy.
