The real trick will be not to invade a country who's making the spare parts
for our military equipment now!! :-(

Gives whole new meaning to slowing one's pace of life and as Steve Martin
said once "Get Small".

Ralph .........who works at a home shop and has cut his fuel consumption by
80%. No comute - and 38 steps to work.......for those of you who are into
detail.

I drive a small 1995 4cyl Mitsubishi pickup. I consistently get 24 mpg.
Last week after filling up for $400 or so (it seemed like it!!) I
decided to see what kind of mpg I would get if I drove 55mph as Nixon
had us do back in the early opec days (1973?). I kept it between
55-60mph on mostly highway driving. I got 34mpg! The test was somewhat
limited but I filled again yesterday and will try it again.

It will work fine if I don't go too far from home but if I get on the
interstate in a more heavily traveled area I would be afraid of getting
run over or shot or both. Pretty amazing how much gas could be saved by
just slowing down.

But I guess as Americans we have more important things to worry about.
If the price gets too high we can always invade another country.

Bob
