Kenny, cut some strips of 1/8" mild steel, through drill and bolt on the
outside with 1/4" machine screws; counter sink on the inside, clean it and
clay it. The fire won't care or even know the difference (-: Or you can
fabricate a new fire pot of mild steel- makes a better pot anyway- you can
water the coal with impunity, if it should burn a hole you can patch with
impunity- Good stuff, impunity (-: It is neat to bring an old tool back to
life.

Kenny,
Did you preheat the cast iron before you welded? If not you
will need to. You can also try playing with your filler
metal, but that is a pain if you don't know the base metal.
I also seam to remember, but could be wrong that if you can
not weld it you might be able to braze it. I think Mikey can
respond on the brazing part?
Regards
Martin
