Okay, okay, some smithing stuff, just to pick up the pace on a slow
day:
I went to have a look at a Murray 250# hammer today. It's been
sitting outside for 10 years but looks to be in restorable condition.
Too heavy to move on my own truck or load with a mere come-along.
Seems to have bronze bushings on the shaft rather than Babbitt.
Removable sow block, bosses in the original casting for an on-board
electric motor despite having a flat-belt pulley, symmetric toggle
arms with an adjustment nut on both sides.
How big a motor would I need to run this? 5 HP be enough?
Any comments on a Murray hammer, pro or con?
