Hi Rich,
I'm going to assume you are asking for prescription safety glasses that have
some further abilities, like UV/IR suppression, since good looking
prescription lenses are not hard to find.
Prescription lenses fall into a more forgiving category than regular safety
glasses, so that any of them made with polycarbonate lenses qualify under
ANSI Z87.1-2003, the latest set of USA recommendations.
Both UK and European safety codes are more forgiving than ours or the
Canadians'
Therefore, if you already have a prescription available try:

or: : http://x-celoptical.com/ email at x-celoptical.com
However, if you are just looking for prescription glasses that you find
acceptable, and which can still be worn in a shop environment, I suggest you
start by having a talk with your optician--not a mere sales clerk--and put
the question to him/her. They are required by law to know the safety codes
and how to comply with them here, and I'm sure that England would be even
more strict regarding professional qualifications. As to side shields, your
optician should be able to supply them for any prescription glasses; there
is at least one kind that simply hang down from the frames. You can also
find endless choices of temporary covers for prescription glasses.
It could be worth you time to look over here for cover goggles, since
shipping for something that small, isn't going to be prohibitive.
Mikey
