Rich, 

Calgary is the home base of Mark Pearce.  I thought that he is a pretty 
interesting fellow, a transplanted Brit that played american professional 
football before going back into blacksmithing. 

You might like to contact him and see his shop.  I saw him demonstrate at an 
ABANA chapter conference in Bemidji, Minnesota circa 1998.
