John,
I think you can do better than that. When I put the made for me
orthotics in my shoes there was no pain...zero. I could do anything for
as long as I wanted. I would also question the heel cup. Altho a lot of
the pain is in the heel that isn't where the pain starts. If your arch
is supported by custom made to fit your feet orthotics you won't need
heel cups or anything else.
Ask for orthotics that are made from a mold taken from your feet.
Nothing less.
As far as healing time my foot took quite a while to heal. Maybe a
year. But if I wore the orthotics there was zero pain as my foot
healed. If I got up in the night I just slipped on my shoes with the
orthotics inside. NO barefoot walking.
