[TheForge] Forge Welding question

Naw, a little copper isn't a problem in a forge weld, I
hear zinc is but have heard otherwise so I don't know
for sure. Maybe one of these days I'll zinc contaminate
an old prop forge and see if I can still weld with it.
I have forged copper, melting some in it accidently and
noticed no change in forge welding. This was before I
changed fluxes too.
If you tried using American quarters it'd be a bust but
Canadian quarters and dimes are nearly pure nickle and
weld nicely.
I use borax and boric acid as a flux in a 4:1 ratio and
since changing over haven't had a weld fail.
So, my two bits is:
Bit 1, copper isn't a factor.
Bit 2, Borax and boric acid makes an effective flux.

If it ain't forged
it ain't real.
Wrought iron is.
