The original question regarding fire pistons was not 'are they
possible' but 'has anyone ever used one'?
They are possible. They do exist. You can buy them. If you did a google
search for 'fire piston' you would find this video at (firepiston.com)
in which the use of a fire piston to make fire is demonstrated.
