Andy,
I mostly do reenactments, they must have a better class of people interested
in history than in jewelry. Kind of like where at blacksmith events guys
just leave a can on their tail-gate with stuff to sell. Or maybe it's where
we live people are more honest.
I don't have a cell, and there aren't usually phones available where we set
up.

You've never gotten burned on this? I was sitting with my ffriend
Shane at Staturday Market in Portland one day and this nice looking
couple comes looking. "Oooooh isn't that ring *beautiful*?" They seemed
very nice and decent. They charged the purchase of a few hundred
dollars. Shane always calls in the purchases in real time. The
machines were down. He took a chance and OK'd the sale. Turned out the
card was stolen and he ate the loss because he didn't authenticate. My
only word would be to take care with this method.
