Actually, even Ron was probably optimistic; if the pigtail looks similar to
a standard propane bottle fitting, but doesn't work in an American bottle,
there is every chance that the regulator is British, in which case even the
hose is worthless.

Some of the fixed preasure regulators can be adjusted by removing the cap
and using a screwdriver. It's not real convienient but if you always use it
for the same thing once you get the preasure you want, put the cap back on
and leave it alone.
