When I solder stainless I use a commercial flux. I have no clue as to what is in it , but it feels like a base. More or less oily and has no acid like smell to it.. It will turn copper a deep green blue . On galvanized it will tun the metal black and eventually leave a white salt. It is useless as a flux on either copper or galvanized iron. Mike Graf
