[TheForge] Finding Lye etc. (OT)

Looks like Fenner Chemical is a good source. Thanks.

Funny thing - I couldn't log into it from my company's internet. It was flagged as "drug paraphrenalia"-related. I wouldn't be surprized if that were because Fenner specifically requires a buyer to certify that he is NOT using the chemicals for drug manufacture.

I can't help feeling we're really starting to lose our freedoms under this Bush administration. The sad part is that our representatives in Congress react more strongly when the office of one of their own being raided by the FBI than they do to all the infringements on the freedoms of us citizens * wiretapping, phone records, international bank transactions, etc. I don't actually oppose the use of any of these investigative tools. What scares me shitless is that it is all being done without court oversight. It's too much like the typical scenario in the rise of a dictator. The Germans didn't appreciate what was happening when Hitler took power. I hope it never happens here.

Bruce,
www.fennerchemical.com in Saginaw Mich. sells lye in bulk to soap makers.
There are sellers on ebay as well, but going to the source is best.
My understanding is that it was the use of lye in meth labs that drove
it off the general market.
