Saint Phlip,
I am not sure where I could find some lump charcoal. I have several
errands to run today so I will check into this. Where and when is the
cookout?
A little info. about me. I have been interested in blacksmithing for
many, many years. It wasn't until last fall that I could actually take
a class here in Seattle. The Pratt classes are great. ( pratt.org )
The excellent instructor was Scott Szloch. I have been hooked ever
since. I have a small propane forge set up on Lopez Island, in the San
Juans. I have a 192# anvil, 4 1/2 inch post vise, tongs and hammers I
picked up years ago in NH. I only get to use them on weekends when the
house remodeling allows. I do a little welding for fun and for work.
That is one marketable skill I want to polish. I would much rather
work with metal than move barges around Puget Sound. As far as finding
a forge to use I don't really know. There are a few around, Black Dog
Forge in Belltown, Under the Spokane street bridge there are a few
blacksmiths in the big tan building. I don't know the address.
Dragonfly forge is one that comes to mind there. Maybe Pratt Fine Arts
Center could help. 12th ave. Iron is a forge and fabricating shop. I
am not sure what there number or web page is. I know these are vague.
Hope they help somehow.
Time to conquer a few responsibilities.
Thanks,
Rob Hill

Well, you're certainly quite welcome ;-) I think Ries and I have things
handled.
Just a thought- do you know where to ppick up some lump (rather than
briquet) charcoal?
Tell me about yourself. Are you a reasonably experienced smith, with a
decent set up? RTeason I'm asking is my host's girlfriend wants to
learn a bit about smithing, and I'm looking for a reasonably nearby
forge to teach her on.

Don't like getting old? Beats the Hel out of the alternative.
The purpose of life is not to arrive at the grave, a beautiful corpse,
pretty and well-preserved, but to slide in sideways, thoroughly used
up, totally worn out, proclaiming, "Wow! What a ride!"
