Garlic pulls selenium from the soil and combines it with sulfur. 
It ( selenium sulfide?) repells blood suckers to some extent ( 
mosquitos and fleas) and it is exuded onto one's skin when you 
eat a lot of garlic.
If it works for me, it ought to work for my quench tank.  Pete F
