Thanks, folks for the advice re welding up the cast iron or malleable iron laterals. I'll try the mig first and if that doesnt work for me, go to the 7018 rod. I have not frequently used architectural components but they definitely offer some advantages...especially if the customer's budget is tight. Don Plummer
