Thanks for all the input .
                Mike i liked your geekish solution so i modified it a tad.I 
put a pipe  t behind the airgate ran an elbow into a second airgate and 
ganged them together so when i close the air to the forge the exhaust 
opens.problem solved and thanks to the guy that threw away those airgates 
from his ventilation system.

ps its a buffalo forge blower with original motor and cutler hammer 
controls.and it came with a centaur forge firepot with dumping ash gate a 
few tongs and a 4 inch vise with a nifty repair job for 200 cdn.
