Way back, when, I did up my life membership to the NRA, annual dues were
announced to be jumping from $10 a year up to $15 per year, but for a short
window of time, the Life memberships were still at $200. So while the NRA
had been at 20 times the annual rate, my timing ment that was a super
deal... About 13 times the new annual rate.

I just did a web search for current due structure on the NRA, National
Geographic and the American Radio Relay League.

These and other Annual membership to life membership rates that I can think
of seem to run about : 15 times the annual rate up to 25 times the annual
rate. NRA annual dues are currently $35 with NRA Life Memberships @
$750.
National Geographic annual dues are $34 with Life Memberships @ $850.
The Radio League / ARRL runs $62 annual / $975 life.

One thing to consider on this: On average, if you "sell" a life
membership to your group, odds are that that member will continue to
donate. "Younger" Life Members will probably contribute more money down
the road.

Most of the Meritorius Life Memberships given / granted are usually to
members that have long contributed to the group, but now retired and on
limited income.

Even my Lions Club did that for a 50 year member. It was a nice honor, and
didn't end up costing much of anything, because the rest of his life was
pretty short.
